About Us

Ours is a small group of both experienced and novice quilters located in Carson City, NV and surrounding areas. We enjoy meeting once a month to share food and quilting projects. We have become a great source of support and comfort to one another as we go through life's joys and tribulations. As poet Carol Lynn Pearson so eloquently puts it, "You can fall here -- we are a quilt set to catch you."

Randi

Randi
Randi, who began sewing as a child, started quilting in 2000, thanks to her friend Linda. When they started on this adventure, they figured two "fairly intelligent" women could figure out how to quilt, right? Over the years they've proven themselves wrong many times.

Linda

Linda
Linda was a wanna be quilter all her life, designing quilts in her imagination until she finally put needle to cloth in 2000. Now she has enough UFOs to compete with veteran quilters. Visit Linda's personal blog by clicking on her photo.

Helen

Helen
Helen has been sewing for more than 50 years. She loves it all -- upholstery, clothing, quilts, doll clothes, heirloom -- and finds the diversity enhances her quilting. Helen admits to being a "fabriholic" and joined the Bees for support.

Carol

Carol
Carol was the applique expert in our group with Sun Bonnet Sue becoming her signature over the years. She passed away on January 16, 2012 after battling cancer for more than three years. She will always be a "Bee" in spirit.

Dawn

Dawn
As an 11-year old girl, Dawn sat at her mom’s Belvedere learning to sew an apron. In 2005, she had an opportunity to learn to hand quilt by completing Grandma’s 1930s quilt. She loves playing with fabric!

Peggy

Peggy
Peggy has been quilting for more than 15 years now, after learning to sew as a child. She loves fabric and has a large "stash." She enjoys machine embroidery and different forms of applique in addition to traditional quilting.

Tricia

Tricia
Tricia remembers many happy hours of sewing and doing needlework with her grandmother. Her interest in quilting was piqued in 2000 when she attended a quilt show in Reno. After making her first quilt (a Christmas triple rail -- a quilter always remembers), she was hooked.

Margie

Margie
As a child, Margie played under the quilt frame set up in her living room. The need to combine forms and colors had been nurtured with scrapbooking, but that was only a substitute. Then, finally, after much hint-dropping, Margie was invited to join the Bees and jumped into the river of quilting with both feet!

Rita

Rita
Rita is an aspiring quilter and the art teacher at Douglas High School. As a veteran teacher of more than 15 years, she loves the challenge and energy of it all. She wants to combine her skills in screen-printing and painting with the tradition of quilting.
