On December 19, 2012, The Nevada Quilting Bees received a community service award from the Daughters of the American Revolution. This award was presented to us by Anita Parker, Vice Regent of Carson City's Battle Born Chapter. Anita submitted our group for the award in consideration of the DragonLord project and other charitable projects we have worked on, including Project Linus, Alzheimer's Project, Moms on the Run (Reno), and Advocates to End Domestic Violence (Carson City).
According to the DAR National Society's website, this award is given "in recognition of outstanding contribution to the community through civic, benevolent, or heroic acts by citizens from a variety of walks of life. The recipient must have outstanding voluntary service in cultural, educational, humanitarian, patriotic, historical, citizenship, environmental conservation, or organized community endeavors."
This is a singular honor for anyone, and we are surprised and humbly grateful that the Battle Born Chapter considered our group worthy of this type of recognition.
